LignoTech South Africa is a 50:50 joint venture between Sappi Saiccor and Borregaard Industries.
Sappi Saiccor is the world's largest manufacturer of Elemental Chlorine Free (ECF) chemical cellulose while Borregaard is the world's leading supplier of wood-based chemicals.
LignoTech South Africa forms part of Borregaard LignoTech group which was formed to specialize and concentrate in global niche markets.
LignoTech South Africa is the largest of the Borregaard's plants able to produce up to 172 000 ADT which is equivalent to approximately 292 000 liquid tons per annum.
LignoTech South Africa manufactures a variety of lignin based products to the concrete, agrochemicals, animal feed, ceramics, mining and transport industries, exporting to more than 40 countries around the world.
The products are environmentally friendly and derived from renewable natural resources, namely lignosulphonates, which is a co-product of cellulose production (obtained from Sappi Saiccor)
